Geek Ink Thinks: All’s quiet on the movie front

For those of you who keep an ear to the ground for my movie reviews, there are a few reasons why I haven’t posted any lately. I’ve mostly been watching re-runs at the cinema since there’s very little new on that interests me. The only Oscar nominee I have yet to see is Zero Dark Thirty, which I’m just not in the mood for, and the rest of the movies on at the cinema (Oz, Red Dawn, Snitch, etc) aren’t that high up on my list of movies to watch. The only new movie that I am really amped to see is Warm Bodies, and for some insane reason Ster-Kinekor have chosen not to bring that to the major cinemas, but are instead screening it at the smaller cinemas which are basically out in the sticks. Really SK? What are you smoking? I have also been up to my usual shenanigans at, so be sure to pop by there to check out some of my DVD reviews.

In the meanwhile, I have gotten my hands on a copy of  Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki, or Wolf Children Ami and Yuki. It’s directed by Mamoru Hosada and animated by Madhouse, the same team who brought you Summer Wars way back in 2009. I didn’t think Summer Wars was amazing, but it was a lot of fun, so I’m definitely keen to check this out. It’s about a young woman who falls in love with a werewolf and has his children, which hasn’t put me off just yet, despite the Twilight-ness of it all, so expect a review for that soon. That is, if I can manage to find a way to squeeze it between my Adventure Time addiction!
