After revealing my initial logo design here and on Facebook, I got some feedback that maybe the logo could use a few tweaks.
So I decided to do slight variations on the logo and asked people to vote and give me feedback on each one. Here are the results from the votes:

So design #3 and #5 were undoubtedly the preferred ones, even though #2 wasn’t that far behind design #3. However, one of my friends pointed out that the bow tie in designs #5 and #6 made her think of Butlers Pizza. Another friend also pointed out that bow ties have also been co-opted by hipsters so I should avoid them if I’m going for a more traditionally “geek” brand.
With this in mind I have decided to go with #3 as my default design. I may pull #5 out of the archives if I do limited or special work that needs a slightly different logo, but as others have pointed out, there are a lot of different associations with the bow tie that may affect the way people perceive the brand.
So for now, Geek Ink shall be moving forward with the slightly older looking character silhouette. Hopefully I’ll be able to find the energy to do some work on a t-shirt design that I’ve had floating around in my head for a while tonight.
And yes, I know I usually release my comic pages on a Thursday, but I am exhausted! I had such awesome sleep over the long weekend because I got to sleep in my default sleep pattern (going to bed very late, followed by getting up very late in the morning). Unfortunately I was back at work on Tuesday and my natural sleep pattern absolutely screwed me on this one, so I am currently running on fumes. I shall try to get a decent amount of sleep tonight so that I can work on my comic strip tomorrow, but I’m not going to make any promises. I will say that I will keep to one a week, but that the day may not be exactly the same day every week. But keep your eyes glued to this space, the strip will be up in the next few days.
