Cape Town gets its first official comic book convention! All aboard the hype train!
For those of you who don’t know, the Open Book Comic Festival is starting on Saturday, and entrance is FREE!
Help get some incredibly talented locals to SDCC!
We now have the opportunity to go back to SDCC to spread the word about South African & Australian comics. With a prime panel slot on Saturday the 26th of July 2014 and a bigger room, now there’s an even BETTER avenue for exposure.
This is where we now reach out to you. We believe in the abilities of the artists and creators from our countries, and if we could, we would take them all along. There’s only so much space in our suitcases though and US Customs is notoriously tough, so best we do this the proper way… which means finding more funds to bring artists from both South Africa and Australia along to gain the experience of networking with industry professionals at the biggest comic showcase in the world.
Check out the link below for more information on donating and what awesome goodies you can receive!
By the time you read this, the first ever anime and gaming convention to be hosted by UCT’s anime and gaming club, Genshiken, will be over. The event was a success, but it had a few minor problems.
I already wrote a fairly detailed post as to what expect this weekend at the Open Book Comic Fest, so I thought I’d do a quick write up to remind people that it’s coming up this weekend. Sadly Wrath volume two and Super-dud volume one won’t be debuting, but it looks like everything else is moving along as planned! It’s going to be awesome so you better be there!
For more details check out the Open Book Festival schedule.
Being the weekend, I decided to keep it simple today over here at Geek Ink and bring you guys some of the music I listen to while I work. The music below is mostly instrumental, so those of you who find songs with lyrics distracting may find something interesting below. I don’t know much about music and music genres, so I’ve fallen back on wiki to define the different music in terms of genre or style. If you have music that you like to listen to while working, be sure to tweet me, comment below, or comment on Facebook.
