EGE! ROUND 2! FIGHT!
EGE! ROUND 2! FIGHT!
This weekend we finally got to experience Cape Town’s first gaming and technology expo, courtesy of Impact Exhibitions. While it was definitely a bit lacking in certain areas, it was a good start to what will most likely be Cape Town’s answer to Rage.
Being a man of simple tastes (yes, I’m not rich), I decided to treat myself to a gift that I’ve been wanting for a while for my 30th birthday. An extra 5 inches… on my TV screen.
Unfortunately a lack of time and energy has left me unable to finish my original post for today. So instead I’m bringing you a video on social media that a friend of mine sent me. And yes, I’m well aware of the humor in a blogger using WordPress, Twitter and Facebook to share a video about how social media is disconnecting people.
Wait a minute? Part 2? Didn’t you cover everything in your first review?
Introduction (skip to The Review for the meat and bones of this post)
I have added a part 2 to this review, which can be found here.
Well, if that post title ain’t a mouthful!
While tablets have been available on the South African market for a while now, most of them are horribly overpriced. This is due to a variety of factors such as import tax, shipping, and local distributor markup. Even reasonably priced tablets such as the Nexus 7 change from the approximately $250 (R2,172.92) price bracket, to the $360 (R3200) price bracket by the time it hits our shelves.
I know I’m not the only one who would like to purchase one of these tablets, but let’s be realistic. As much as I love new tech to toy around with, I’m not going to dump R3200 ($360) into a tablet that may be gathering dust in 6 months.
Thankfully, there are cheaper options which are starting to appear, and while they may not be quite the same standards as some of the big boys, thankfully, they’re not too far off.
Do you spend all your time stalking your ex on Facebook? Looking at pictures of cute kittens on CanIhazcheeseburger? Laughing at jokes stolen from SomethingAwful on 9gag?
